Bow ties, suits, dresses, and gowns, The Timeless Gala has been the talk of the town. Not to be mistaken for The Met Gala, where the ticket prices exceed middle-class earnings in some places, and the waiting list is longer than…?…well, you get the point. The Timeless Gala was a budget-friendly occasion that didn’t break the bank. Executing their third successful event to honor influencers in the music, fashion, and art industries, The Timeless Gala rolled out the red carpet for their honorees and guests.
Receiving the 2018 award for Artist Of The Year, Miss Billy Joe showcased two meaningful pieces from her 3D collection. Telling a story through her work, she expressed how her college experience made her feel like she was “climbing a mountain of books” only to find a golden noose at the top. I can absolutely relate to the feeling. Using Meek Mill as her muse, Miss Billy Joe’s second piece was inspired by her views on the justice system. I don’t believe that it’s merely coincidence that the talks of Meek Mill’s release began shortly after Miss Billy Joe was honored at The Timeless Gala. Her art is that moving.
Also accepting an award that evening, Dj Craig G of 93.7. Radio Personality, Jessica Carl presented him with an award for his initiative on creating and marketing a mix-tape of independent artists to record labels, among his other contributions within the community and in radio. A truly selfless individual, Mr. Craig G humbly received the award and expressed immense gratitude for his supportive wife, his angel baby watching over and protecting him, and the talented artists that made the evening possible. His message was simple-keep working!
Which is exactly what was taking place at the far left corner of the room. In 2017, The Timeless Gala presented JJ The Artist with the Artist of The Year award. Returning to this year’s gala, he showcased his talent with a live painting to remind us why he received the honor in the first place. Starting with a blank canvas, he nearly completed the piece by the end of the night. No pressure, though.
And just when you thought it was over, you thought wrong. Singers, a saxophonist, and few rappers shared their talents and were well received. Overall, The Timeless Gala elegantly celebrated the many creatives that contribute to the culture, as a whole.
